Bewdley – 2nd July 2024

On Tuesday 2nd July, year 10 Geography pupils went to Bewdley to carry out some fieldwork. They studied the effectiveness of flood management strategies in the area. This started with a walk down the river, looking at flood severity, followed by some time in the town centre asking residents, tourists and business owners several questions in relation to flood management. Pupils also sketched some fantastic field sketches of the local area. Pupils enjoyed the different setting and took a lot away from the trip. What they learned will now feed into the Paper 3 exam in 2025.

Birmingham – 8th July

On Monday 8th July, Year 10 Geography pupils went to Birmingham city centre to study whether urban regeneration has been successful in the area. They looked at several areas, including Brindley Place and Centenary Square. What I found amazing was that some pupils has never seen certain parts of the city, and some had never been on a train. All of these aspects add to the experience. Pupils completed pedestrian counts, questionnaires and environmental quality surveys to determine if Birmingham has been regenerated to a high standard. This will all support them in questions they will receive in the Paper 3 exam in 2025.
