A message from our Deputy Headteacher Mr Oxley, regarding the Holy Month of Ramadan.
During this time of year we would like to remind parents/ carers that it is important that all students remain well hydrated and take sensible precautions to keep themselves safe ( this may include the application of sun cream, taking shelter in the shaded part of the playground, eating a suitable breakfast etc.). We are aware that a number of our Muslim students are about to begin their fast next week. We would like to reassure parents and carers of our support for your sons and daughters at this time. We would also like to reassure parents and carers that the PE curriculum has been modified to ensure that intense physical activity is not being expected of our students during this important time and that reasonable adjustment has been made in order to ensure that students who are fasting do not lose out on their entitlement to the PE curriculum.
As a school the health and safety of all students is a priority at all times and especially our Year 11 students sitting their GCSE exams. We would like to remind all parents that in a medical emergency, should medication or fluids need to be administered to any students, we will follow all guidance in line with local authority duty of care to ensure that the safety of all students remains a priority at all times.
During Ramadan students who are fasting will be able to attend our Ramadan Club during their lunch break. This will be supervised by a member of staff.
If you have any concerns with regards to any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact your son/ daughters Head of Year.
Yours sincerely,
Timothy Oxley
Deputy Headteacher.
