“Although we tend to group the Magi together, God spoke to each one individually and shone the light of His truth in each of their hearts. Their reason enlarged the telescope of their faith. Its focus sharpened and the more they responded, the greater the sky of their ‘inner vision’ we call conscience expanded before them.”
These were the words of Father Peter Conly spoken to staff members in his keynote address and how profound they are. The theme of our Spiritual Life Day was ‘Epiphany’. The day began with mass and during mass Father set the scene for the rest of the day. As staff reflected on the significance of the gifts brought by the Magi to Jesus, they had an opportunity to explore their own gifts and talents.
Through a number of different workshops they explored the theme of Epiphany. They developed their team building skills in the gym, rustled up some star shaped cookies in the kitchen, learnt how to play pieces of music to be used in future liturgies and reflected on the Social Justice aspect of our mission to those in prisons around the world. The afternoon saw staff complete a self-evaluation task on the Catholic Life and Ethos of our school. It was a truly blessed day and a fitting start to 2017 and all the blessings it will bring.
