This programme helps protect children against flu, which can be very unpleasant and lead to complications like bronchitis and pneumonia. The flu vaccine not only helps to prevent the transmission of flu to the wider community, including older family members and new-born babies who may have a weaker immune system, but research by Public Health England has shown that the flu vaccine programme has reduced the number of people visiting their GP or emergency departments with flu. Research has also showed that vaccinating school aged children reduces pupil and staff absences.

The website below holds lots of information about the flu vaccination along with a primary aged video which can be shared with the children.

This year the service can offer the option of the non-porcine injection vaccination for those families who decline the nasal flu vaccination due to the porcine gelatine contents.

This non porcine gelatine vaccination is available at our community clinics which will be running throughout the flu season.

Families can book a clinic appointment or speak to a member of the team by calling 0121 466 3410 or by email at bchnt.birminghamimms@nhs.net

We would like to thank you for your continued help and support with delivering the flu vaccination programme, protecting individuals and communities against infectious disease.
