It has been a special few weeks in school as we prepare for Christmas. Our students’ generosity has once again shone through as tutor groups prepared both hampers for our local community and shoeboxes of essentials and gifts for Father Hudson’s Tabor House, for those experiencing homelessness. The hampers and shoeboxes were so thoughtful and the messages of hope and cards created by students were so touching.

We were treated to our Academy Christmas Virtual Carol Concert, where we gathered with our academy family and really entered into the festive spirit with readings and carols. We could hear the applause ringing out from classrooms as each school performed, it was a really special afternoon.

The competition intensified in the last week with our Christmas door form competition! Forms produced some outstanding doors as shown in the gallery below. Congratulations to our form winners :

7E – Mrs Doyle, 8S Mrs Smith, 9S Mrs McCarthy, 10S Mrs Gupta and 11P Mrs Naz.

The overall form winners were 10S and Mrs Gupta- well done to all!

Our wonderful kitchen staff prepared a fantastic Christmas dinner this week too, enjoyed by students and staff alike!

Our Drop Everything and Read Christmas special on Thursday featuring poems, short stories, extracts from classic fiction through to contemporary Christmas stories and a treat from A Christmas Carol  – the Muppet’s version!

On Friday we held our Christmas Jumper/Festive non uniform and again students were so generous with their contributions to our chosen charities – Cafod and Islamic Relief. Students spent time in their form rooms at the end of the morning to reflect on the term, prepare for Christmas and pray together.

Wishing you all a peaceful, restful Christmas.
