Our Curriculum model
- Holy Trinity operates a horizontal tutoring system where each form group is made up of mixed ability students.
- In teaching periods, students are grouped into two bands with three groups in each band. Practical subjects such as PE and Technology have an extra group.
- Students participate in a Personal Social Development (PSD) lesson twice a fortnight from Years 7 to 11.
- Students are taught mostly in mixed ability groups with the exception of Maths and Science.
Key stage 4
- Students are taught a core curriculum of Maths, English, Science, RE and PSD.
- Students are also taught one hour of PE per week in mixed ability groups (no examination)
- There are six groups for core subjects, including RE
- Students study a further three subjects at GCSE level or the equivalent i.e. Level 2 qualifications
- Students choose their options during Year 9 and are guided in these choices by being assigned a coloured pathway (blue, red, green or yellow)
