Sixty three Year 8 students attended a recent event at Coventry University sponsored by Dell  Technology.  Students took part in utilising the latest Dell technology in a collaborative problem-solving challenge with a focus on community activism.

We were lucky to have a talk from University Ambassadors and were given a tour of the University and its wonderful facilities.  Our students were given a real insight into student life and students felt inspired to think ahead and consider university as an option after College. We also got to try the latest VR technology which was a surreal experience!

All students took part a team-based challenge in which they invented a technology to overcome a social problem. Using the Dell equipment provided, students were given time to research the issue and then plan and deliver a presentation to their peers, staff, University staff and representatives from Dell.

The winning team from Year 8 were our boys group who developed the concept of drone technology to support the emergency services. We had some wonderful ideas contributed by other groups including safety tracking devices, apps for fitness and to address other social issues.

Thank you to Coventry University, their student ambassadors and Dell representatives.
