With thanks to Mr Bayliss, Mr Sherman, our Head Girl, our Head Boy and Senior Prefect, for their part in preparing our very special ‘Remembrance’ liturgy on the morning of Friday 11th September. It was very moving to see the whole school stand in silence for 2 minutes, hear ‘The last Post’ played by Mr Sherman and listen to the words of our readers. Mr Crehan reminds us of the inspiring words of Reverend Father Peter Baker:

So the two minute silence is about more than the horrors of war and the ultimate price for freedom. This pause in a hectic world is a symbol of our spiritual need to be still; the formal silence, a prompt to the memory which helps us mourn our losses; and the poppy we wear (or see on our wonderful school cross), among other things, an acknowledgement of the limitations of human existence’.

We continue to pray for all who have lost their lives in conflict in the past and in our present world.
We will remember them.
